Lawrence Barker Named President of Machias Savings Bank 

Machias Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Lawrence L. Barker, Senior Vice President of Business Banking, has been promoted to President of Machias Savings Bank effective October 1, 2011. Edward L. Hennessey, President and CEO, will assume the role of CEO at that time. 

Barker began his banking in Collections at Machias Savings Bank in 1991. He worked his way up through the Business Banking Department and was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Business Banking in 2008. 

Barker has been responsible for commercial and retail banking activity, including business development efforts, loan portfolio growth, and implementation of strategic initiatives. 

"Larry brings a great deal of experience into his added role as President," Hennessey stated. "He has served the past several years as the Bank's Senior Vice President and this is the next logical step in a carefully planned succession plan. There will be no noticeable change to our operations for our customers or our staff." 

Barker earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of Maine at Machias; He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Washington Academy and is a past President of the Board of Directors for Washington Hancock Community Agency. 

Larry resides in East Machias with his wife and four children. 

The Bank is also happy to announce that James O. Donnelly was promoted to Executive Vice President. Jim will be in charge of the Bank’s Business Banking operations. Jim began his banking career in 1991 and most recently held a position of Senior Vice President at Machias Savings Bank.
